Nahide Konak

Dr. Konak received a Ph.D. in sociology and anthropology from Northeastern University in 2005. Her areas of expertise include globalization, environmental sociology, social movements, sociology of migration, qualitative and quantitative social research methods, sociological theories. She has been conducting research on the analysis of natural resource use controversies and environmental conflict types in Turkey and the Middle East. She has studied the development of water sources as a result of switching from fossil fuel energy sources to renewable energy. Her research has also focused on various social movements and protests in the 21st century. Her current research interest is in sociological aspects of climate change, climate migration and justice. She has been currently working on societal aspects and impacts of hurricane in Antalya, Turkey.
